Specialised Physiotherapy for Babies, Children & Adolescents.
Established in 2011, Stepping Forward hosts a dedicated team of paediatric physiotherapists who provide evidence based assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions that effect babies to young adults.
Paediatric physiotherapy is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of babies, children and young people from birth to 21 years.
Our paediatric physiotherapists combine their skills in biomechanics, movement and function, with expert knowledge and experience of child development and of childhood disabilities.
This includes assessment and treatment of:
Joint and muscles injuries in children and adolescence
Neuromuscular conditions, such as Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Atrophies/Dystrophies
Developmental delay (delayed milestone acquisition)
Genetic and Chromosomal conditions
Complex and multi-faceted disability
Plagiocephaly, Scaphocephaly and Brachycephaly (abnormal head shape in infants)
Torticollis, Talipes and other infantile musculoskeletal conditions
Idiopathic Toe Walking, Genu Valgus and ‘clumsy’ gait issues
Dysplasia of the hip and other developmental conditions
Gross Motor Skill difficulties (such as riding a bike, climbing, monkey bars)
Abnormal posture and idiopathic scoliosis in adolescence
Flexible services to meet your needs
We value and respect each child and each family’s unique needs, experiences and goals.
That is why our physiotherapists take the time to help you identify meaningful goals and to work towards functional outcomes. To a child, core strength and lower limb power doesn’t mean as much as running as fast as your friends; and shoulder stability and upper limb strength doesn’t mean as much as being able to do the playground monkey bars with your siblings. We understand that physiotherapy has to have clinically specific goals that are also meaningful to each child.
Our programs are highly individualised, and may include:
Intensive treatment blocks
Regular therapeutic input
Home/Childcare/Kindergarten/School based sessions
Aquatic Physiotherapy sessions in a pool
Group sessions
Multi-disciplinary approach with other healthcare professionals
Use of our specialised facilities, including reformers, gross motor play equipment, hoists and walking slings
Use of specialised techniques, including dry needling, serial casting and manual therapies.
Assessment, prescription and management of assistive and adaptive equipment (Find out more about NDIS here).
